The New York Times has recommended our dear Burgos — "an ancient city with a fresh face and culinary buzz" — as one of The 46 Places to Go in 2013. Looks like a popular piece given the number of online comments, presently standing at 385.

As the article notes, Burgos has also been chosen as the 2013 gastronomic capital of Spain.

I'm pretty sure the "fresh face" alluded to is my own, though I can't corroborate this! However, I can confirm that much of what makes Burgos special has been in place for a very long time. The media, including the Gray Lady, can be counted on to publish such oversimplified quips as "that striking building [Burgos Cathedral] used to be the town’s only compelling attraction". Right.

Anyway, I hope all is well with you, wherever you are, and that you might well be able to join Mufidah and me here in Burgos this year. If so, drop us a line.

With warm regards,
